2nd Comenius meeting in Ontinyent. Welcome lipdub

Last 13th of january the 2nd Comenius meeting in Ontinyent began with an original and warm welcome to our partners and friends from Turkey and Poland. Eight teachers and eight pupils took part in the Welcome Lipdub. Here you can watch it!

Gegants i Cabets Festival

Last saturday 25th of october our school took part in one of the most important events in Ontinyent. It was the "Gegants i Cabets" Festival, where about 66 oversized heads and two giants were in the parade. Most of the oversized heads represent famous tales, legends and fables characters. They were designed last school year as an activity in the Comenius Project. Here you can see some pictures and a video of the Festival.

Art Project. Designing oversizes heads

One of our most pupoular traditions in our city is "Gegants i Cabets" (giants and oversized heads). We have 6 "Gegants" and 7 "cabets". They dance twice a year, in december and june. Every four years we celebrate a "Gegants i Cabets" meeting in Ontinyent. There are several groups of "gegants i cabets" coming from different cities of Spain. They join and dance together in a parade. It's really worth seeing.

We had the idea of designing new "cabets" of famous characters of fairy tales, fables and legends. We have already finished 24 of them, but there are 75 more under contruction. In the gallery you can see some famous characters such as Rapunzel, Little Red Ridding Hood, an Elf, Puss in Boots, a Pig, Pinocchio, the Wolf and many more. Notice that there are three special characters as they represent local legends: the "Moro Mussa" (Mussa the Moor), the "Quarantameula" (it has no translation) and the Caçarates (Rats Hunter). INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN'S BOOK DAY

Today, 2nd of April, pupils aged 3 to 8 celebrated the International Children's Book Day. The celebration was linked with the Comenius Project as pupils from 3 to 6 years old have been working for a week one popular tale of each partner. They made different activities about the tales and learned some vocabulary in english. Today, they shared books in our school library and pupils from 1st and 2nd level read some tales to younger pupils. It's been a nice day full of books and literature!!

The Comenius Project in the local newspaper

This week one of Ontinyent's local newspaper devotes a full page about our school. In the article they speak about the Comenius Project and their benefits to the Carmelo Ripoll educational community. Also, there is a description of our school and some pisctures about the activities we do along the school year.

2nd Mobility. Polatli (Turkey). 24th-28th february 2014

Last week of february teachers Mª Antonia and Xelo attended the second mobility in Polatli (Turkey). It was a great experience and they learnt a lot about turkish education. They made a nice report about the week in turkey, the activities at Polatli school and the touristic places they visit. They emphasised the friendliness of our comenius partner and also the great implication of parents association. Here you can see some pictures.
